New Test Stand Measures Hose Clamp Forces.

Lake Orion, MI - Sensor Developments Inc. has developed an innovative hose clamp force measurement test stand.

It is designed to meet the needs of both manufacturers and users of constant-tension hose clamps. Each test stand is comprised of three individually adjustable load cells to accommodate hose clamps with clamp diameters of 16 to 75 mm, and widths up to 20 mm (larger and/or smaller capacities are also available.) Each of the three load cells have a capacity of 1,500N and a spring rate of 20 kN/mm, assuring minimal change in clamp diameter during testing. The test stand is constructed of stainless steel, nickel-plated alloy steel, and anodized aluminum. It is suitable for use in an environmental chamber.

The force seen by each load cell and the average force are displayed via an application-specific virtual instrument (VI) program on a supplied laptop computer. Readings are saved to a file and can be easily imported by a spreadsheet, SPC, or other analysis software.

The design concept can be extended to other capacities and sizes on special order. Price and delivery information is available by contacting SDI's Application Engineers at 1-(888)-SENSOR-1.
